Warframe Tau

Warframe Tau Update & Upcoming Content

The TennoCon 2025 stream just wrapped up and we got information on a bunch of new things coming to the game including Warfarme Tau system, a bunch of quests, a major rework for the long forgotten frame Oberon, another prime Warframe and two new warframes. DE has decided to roll out the new content in multiple updates with some coming in 2025, and the rest coming next year early in 2026.

Warframe is introducing the new Warframe Tau system with a new quest called the old peace, where players will get to explore a future Tau and fight against the sentients. The Tau system is a heavily integrated part of Warframe’s lore and has always been one of the community’s goal in terms of the story progression of Warframe. It caters to the sentient faction of enemies, and their history which has not been covered in depth by the game’s current quests.

We will most likely be getting the Warframe Tau system with the old peace story, but Warframe is a game that has its lore based on Eternalism. Basically, all timelines are real and their existences are treated as equal. This gives birth to many parallel story lines that exist simultaneously. Hence a Tau system that used to exist will also be introduced separately with the Tau story line coming next year. In this story lone, the operator will be working with the Lotus to unravel lost memories of the Tenno in order to unlock the location of Tau. Warframe old peace will be coming prior to Tau.

Upcoming Warframes

The new prime warframe Caliban has been announced. Caliban Prime will be coming with his signature melee the Venato Prime, as well as a prime sniper rifle, the Vadarya Prime. The release date for Caliban Prime is not yet announced, but will most likely appear with the upcoming Warframe Tau system.

During the tennolive stream, DE talked about not one, but two new upcoming warframes. The 62nd warframe was only breifly discussed with little to no details given. All that was said is that this warframe is a “fun guy”, with more details to be released in the next developer stream. Additionally, the 63rd warframe has been announced. It will most likely be coming with the Harrow and Wisp protoframes, as can be seen from the trailer, and the theme for this warframe is the devil. Known as the “Heretic of Xata”, the warframe Uriel will be making an appearance in the near future.

New Skins

Well, as the community has expected, the next heirloom skin is ember. Coming with all the enhanced “assets” of an heirloom skin, the ember heirloom skin comes right after the warframe’s rework. Additionally, viewers watching the tennolive stream on twitch had a chance at getting an Ember Prime to equip this skin on. We are also getting a deluxe skin for Lavos. Visuals show a scientist style of design, with a lab coat and some tubes connected to the head area.

Warframe Rework

Oberon was released in 2013, and has become a very stale warframe. Lacking in pretty much all areas. No abilities for survivability, his kit also lacks any abilities that sufficiently boosts his damage and the selection of crowd control abilities you can swap on other warframes using the helminth makes his entire ability set very underwhelming. Hence, the community has requested for a rework for Oberon and has been doing this for a while. Seeing DE listen and rework Oberon really lifts some spirits.

Events & Quests

It’s summer again, and that means dog days is coming back. This time it’s coming with a twist, where we will be able to use pool noodles as melee weapons.

Players that are just now getting into the game struggle with modding, and learning it feels like a herculean task for them. So, Warframe is adding a new quest where Teshin will teach you about modding your weapon.

Warframe has also partnered up with the developers of Starfinder to make an introduction in their game as well, in an operation called operation Orias.

Warframe is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Swtich, and currently in closed beta for Android. DE has finally announced the Warframe closed beta officially, with registrations open on their website. Registration does not guarantee that you will be able to play it on android since invites are limited. For more info, visit Digital Extreme’s website for Warframe.
