The new Fontaine region in miHoyo’s action RPG introduces an underwater world full of challenges. One such challenge is figuring out how to destroy Bullet Barnacles because the Plume of Purifying Light or the Jueyun Chili isn’t going to do much. This pesky creature will constantly shoot at you, despite your best efforts. To destroy Bullet Barnacles in Genshin Impact, you’ll have to ditch regular attacks because they don’t work underwater. So you’ll need to get creative to deal with them.
Here’s a guide on how to destroy Bullet Barnacles in Genshin Impact.
How to Destroy Bullet Barnacles in Genshin Impact
To destroy Bullet Barnacles in Genshin Impact, you’ll need to borrow the ability of a Xenochromatic Armored Crab. These special crabs are found throughout the underwater areas of Fontaine and have a glowing blue color, unlike the regular orange and yellow Armored Crabs.
You can easily find Xenochromatic Armored Crabs near the Pale Forgotten City Domain. Once you spot one, press the L2 button and aim at the crab. Your character will then use a blue energy tendril to absorb the crab’s special ability. You can activate this ability by pressing or holding the R2 button.
- Quick Press R2: Sends a weak bubble attack toward your enemy.
- Hold R2: Creates a barrier that not only blocks damage but also boosts your regular attacks.
When you face a Bullet Barnacle, point your reticle at it and wait for it to shoot at you. Absorb the energy from the attack, then release the R2 trigger to fire back and destroy the Bullet Barnacle.
Additional Uses of Xenochromatic Armored Crab’s Ability
The Xenochromatic Armored Crab’s skill isn’t just for defeating Bullet Barnacles. You can also use it for other tasks in the underwater world:
- Destroy Underwater Large Stones: Clear paths by breaking large stones that block your way.
- Harvest Aquatic Crystals: Collect valuable resources by breaking crystals found underwater.
- Block Water Vents’ Currents: Use the barrier to stop strong water currents and explore new areas.
