If you’re jumping back into the yard, expect combat to feel a little different. Mutations and weapon perks have shifted. However, there’s a payoff. You now have more weapons. Better yet, many come with unique visuals and effects.
Black Ant Sword
This is a Tier 3 take on the classic one-handed sword style. It delivers stronger combo output. Plus, it swaps the usual red look for a darker finish, since it’s built from Black Ant parts. To unlock the blueprint, you must analyze the Black Ant Head. Black Soldier Ants drop it.
Cricket Lute Bow
This is arguably the best ranged weapon introduced with the expansion. It hits hard. Then it adds a support angle that’s rare for bows. On hit, it has a 35% chance to apply a healing buff to nearby players and Buggies.
That perk changes how archers play. Combine it with the Bardic Inspiration Mutation and the Cricket Armor Set, and ranged builds can function as combat healers. That’s a big shift in team fights. To unlock the crafting recipe, analyze the Cricket Drumstick.
Discord
Discord is a variant of the Cricket Lute Bow, but it comes with a different mission. Instead of supporting allies, it disrupts enemies. The Mysterious Stranger created this modified version. You can find it in the southern corner of the O.G.R.R. Labs’ rooftop.
Its key perk is Song of Discord. Critical hits can trigger negative effects, and each crit rolls one of these outcomes:
- 35% chance to reduce the target’s attack by 15% for 10 seconds
- 35% chance to reduce the target’s movement speed by 40% for 5 seconds
- 25% chance to apply 8 stun per second for 2 seconds
That package makes Discord especially valuable against bosses, where control often matters as much as raw damage.
Dusk Blades
Dusk Blades are a pair of daggers crafted from Earwig Pincer. Yes, you must analyze the Earwig Pincer to unlock the recipe. They’re quick. They’re lethal. And they slot into a wide range of builds.
At weapon level 4, they unlock Desperate Defense. This perk reduces all damage you take when you’re under 75% Health. That makes the weapon forgiving during messy fights. It’s also extremely useful for dealing with spiders, which is reason enough for many players to give it a try.
Crimson Reapers
Crimson Reapers are a modified version of the Dusk Blades. The trade-off is simple. You get lower crit chance compared to Dusk Blades. In return, you gain a different level 4 perk. At weapon level 4, Crimson Reapers unlock Desperate Criticals. This perk boosts your critical chance when you drop to 30% health or less.
It’s useful in clutch scenarios. Still, it’s not positioned as the best weapon in the game.
To obtain them, you must search a specific location. Scout the Pumpkin surrounded by Tang Pools (which you can clear using the Ladybug Buggy) and O.R.C. Black Ant Soldiers. This spot sits near the border of the Greenhouse, south of the fertilizer bag.
Acid Ruin
Acid Ruin is a new Mage Staff built around a status effect called Sour Tang Buildup. This buildup causes armor corrosion, which can turn even tough enemies into easier targets.
Mage builds don’t always get the love they deserve in Grounded 2. However, they remain some of the most entertaining setups to play, especially when you enjoy status pressure over burst damage.
The staff’s final combo is the standout. It releases a splosh of Tang goo that spreads buildup to nearby enemies, letting you pressure groups instead of single targets.
Wither Sting
Wither Sting is a Stranger-modified version of Acid Ruin. It keeps the Tang-focused identity, but layers in a nasty anti-sustain mechanic.
It comes with two perks:
- Tang Attack (the same perk used by the Acid Ruin staff)
- Puckered Recovery, which makes your attacks reduce enemy healing effectiveness by 50% for 10 seconds, but only if the enemy’s Tang buildup is maxed out.
You must find this weapon inside a trash can in the Yard’s Fire Pit area, near the park bench. Also, stay alert. New roaming bugs in the area can punish sloppy scouting.
Boom Stick
Boom Stick is a modified version of the Wallopeño from the original Grounded. It delivers huge Smashin and Spicy damage, and it hits like a freight train.
The highlight is its charged attack. It triggers a shockwave AoE that applies:
- 15 Spicy Damage
- 15 Sizzle Buildup
It’s powerful, but you can’t simply craft it and move on. You need to find it. The weapon is guarded by an O.R.C. Wolf Spider. You’ll find it within a complex tunnel network reached through an entrance below the Vegetable Basket on the garden wall’s south-western corner.
