After defeating four main bosses in this Elden Ring spin-off, you’ll come across Augur in Nightreign. This particular boss is called Maris, Fathom of Night, and is inspired by sea creatures. Maris flies around the arena, uses sleep attack and summons jellyfish and tentacles. This boss can be easy or very tough, depending on your team and how well you handle its sleep attacks. If you want to unlock the final boss, you will need to defeat Augur in Nightreign.
Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you beat Augur in Nightreign.
How to Prepare for Augur in Nightreign

Bring Lightning Weapons or Spells
Maris is weak to lightning. Any weapon or spell with lightning will deal extra damage. If you have a relic that gives you a lightning weapon, use it. The faster you finish the fight, the fewer healing items you’ll need.
Use Ranged Weapons
Maris spends most of the fight flying. Melee weapons are hard to use here. Bows, staves, and spells are much better. Even a regular bow is more useful than a sword in this fight.
Build Your Team for Range
The best characters for this fight are Ironeye, Recluse, and Duchess.
- Ironeye is the best ranged attacker and can interrupt Maris’ sleep aura with his ultimate.
- Duchess can repeat damage and use staves for ranged attacks.
- Recluse has strong spells and can heal the team.
If you use Wylder or Raider, give them a great bow. Revenant and Executor can also use ranged attacks.
Get Sleep Resistance and Magic Defense
Maris uses sleep attacks that can wipe out your team. Equip items that boost sleep resistance, like the Clarifying Horn Charm. Magic defense also helps.
Level Up and Upgrade Flasks
Be at least level 10 or 12 before fighting Augur in Nightreign. Higher stats mean more damage and better survival. Collect as many flask charges as you can.
How to Beat Augur in Nightreign

Watch Out for Jellyfish
At the start, Maris summons jellyfish. They move slowly but explode if you get close. Kite them around or kill them if needed.
Dodge the Spin Charge
Sometimes Maris dives and spins. This is easy to dodge, but don’t run into jellyfish or tentacles.
Avoid the Tentacles
Later in the fight, Maris summons tentacles. They do a lot of damage if you touch them. Stay away unless you have to destroy them.
Block or Dodge the Water Wave
Maris can send out big waves of water. Block or dodge toward the wave to avoid damage.
Interrupt the Sleep Aura
The most dangerous move is the sleep aura. Maris will lie down and start charging a sleep attack. If you don’t stop it, your team will fall asleep and probably die. Use ultimate attacks (like Ironeye’s Single Shot) or hit Maris with enough lightning damage to stagger it. Save your ultimates for this moment.
Destroy Teardrop Bombs
When Maris is below half health, it drops bombs that cause sleep and big damage. Shoot them down before they hit the ground, or run away from where they land.
That’s everything you need to know to beat Augur in Nightreign. With the right team, good gear, and smart use of your skills, you’ll take down Maris and move one step closer to the final boss in Elden Ring Nightreign.
