What Does the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Free Version Include? Explained

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is a fresh release from Arc System Works and Cygames that came out yesterday for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It is a 2.5D anime-style fighting game and a sequel to Granblue Fantasy Versus from 3 years ago.

Unlike its 2.5D fighting game rivals, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising also has a free version alongside its standard retail version and a deluxe edition. Do not be alarmed by the “trial” label on the free version as it still includes plenty of content to go through.

Here is what you get with Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising’s free version.

GBVS:R has launched with a 28-character roster, but the free version is limited to 4, which are rotated weekly. This includes Gran, Djeeta, Zeta, and Sigfried, but the main character Gran will always be available, meaning only the latter three will rotate each week. All these characters are considered easy to play.

As with almost all modern fighting games, most players lean towards multiplayer modes, also available in GBVS:R’s free version. The two most crucial multiplayer modes, casual and ranked, will always be available on the free version, but you cannot create custom games to invite your friends.

The story mode will also be limited to Act 1 only.

Despite all these limitations, you at least get full access to one of the mini-games included in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, which is called “Gran Bruise Legends!”. It is a Fall Guys-inspired mode where you compete against dozens of other players in a series of mini-games. However, you cannot customize your Avatar as much as the standard and deluxe versions of the game.

Last but not least, the Character Level and Legend Level are capped at 80 and 40 respectively in the free version.
