As you progress through Chapter 2, you’ll encounter the Second Rat Prince and the King of Flowing Sands in a dual boss fight. How you handle this battle will determine how and when you summon the First Prince of the Flowing Sands.

  • If You Defeat the King of Flowing Sands First: If you take down the King first and then the Second Rat Prince, you’ll receive an item called the Pungent Flesh Chunk. You can use this item to summon the First Prince shortly after the double boss fight.
  • If You Defeat the Second Rat Prince First: If you defeat the Second Rat Prince first, the King will escape into a cave and summon the First Prince himself.

Once you’ve triggered the conditions, head to the cave located to the left of a gate you can’t open yet. If you have the Pungent Flesh Chunk, interact with the cliff inside the cave to summon the First Prince. If you didn’t get the chunk, simply wait for the cutscene where the King calls his son.

The First Prince is slow compared to other bosses in Black Myth: Wukong, but his attacks are powerful. Wait for him to start his combos, then dodge and counterattack. If you have a talent that lets you continue your combo after dodging, this is the perfect time to use it.

When the Prince jumps and lands on his back, that’s your cue to unleash a full combo or a fully charged heavy attack. Keep in mind that he’s a big boss, so he won’t flinch or stagger easily, but heavy attacks will take a good chunk out of his health bar. The Prince has a charge attack where he rushes at you. When he starts charging, position yourself in front of the black metal wall in the arena. If he slams into the wall, he’ll be stunned, allowing you to land several hits.

Another effective tactic is to use your first transformation, Red Tiles, after the Prince smashes into the wall. This ability deals a lot of fire damage, which seems particularly effective against beast-type enemies like the First Prince.

Rewards for Defeating the First Prince of the Flowing Sands

Once you defeat the First Prince of the Flowing Sands in Black Myth: Wukong, you’ll receive two key rewards: the Arhat Gold Piece and a piece of silk. The Arhat Gold Piece grants you access to a secret area, while the silk is used to craft certain armor pieces. These rewards make the battle worth the effort, even if they don’t seem impressive at first glance.

The battle against the First Prince of the Flowing Sands in Black Myth: Wukong is a true test of your skills, but it’s manageable. By paying attention to his attack patterns and using the environment to your advantage, you can emerge victorious and claim your rewards.
