Carrying Milkweed around Brookhollow Park can be tough, which is why you need a Red Ant Egg in Grounded 2. That’s because this egg will unlock a Red Solider Ant Buggy, which will help you travel faster and carry more stuff like Lingonberry for your armor. But getting through the Hatchery Anthill isn’t easy. You’ll need to go much deeper into the winding tunnels to find the Red Soldier Ant Eggs you’re looking for.
Luckily for you, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about Red Ant Egg in Grounded 2 and how to unlock the Red Solider Ant.
Where to Find Red Ant Egg in Grounded 2

To get a Red Soldier Ant Buggy, you need a Red Soldier Ant Egg in Grounded 2, not just any egg. The best place to find a Red Ant Egg is inside the Hatchery Anthill. You will go here during the Egg Hunt quest, which starts after you get the Hatchery Blueprints from the Hatching a Plan quest. This quest also gives you recipes for the Hatchery, Red Soldier Ant Buggy, and Ant Nest.
The South Entrance to the Hatchery Anthill is southeast of the Ranger Station. Go inside and follow the tunnels. There are many white eggs, but you need to look for the red-colored Red Soldier Ant Eggs. These are deeper inside, past a big Ominent Lab door with red and green lights. You will see a Red Soldier Ant Egg behind glass, but you can’t grab that one. Go inside the lab, turn right, go through the door, and follow the red-lit hallway to the left. In the big cave ahead, you’ll find a group of five Red Soldier Ant Eggs by a trolley.
It’s easy to get lost in the Hatchery Anthill. To help, follow the wires on the ceiling. You’ll know you’re close when you pass a big 9V Battery in the ground. There are lots of Red Soldier Ants in the tunnels, so bring armor, weapons, torches, and healing items like Fiber Bandages and Grumble Granola Bars.
You can only carry one Red Soldier Ant Egg at a time. You have to walk it all the way back to your base. If you get attacked, drop the egg, fight, then pick it up again. Once you have a Red Soldier Ant Buggy, you can use it to carry eggs for you.
How to Make a Hatchery in Grounded 2

To hatch your Red Ant Egg in Grounded 2, you need to build a Hatchery. Here’s what you need:
- 1 Red Soldier Ant Egg
- 6 Weed Stems (chop Dandelions)
- 1 Acorn Top and 5 Acorn Shells (break Acorns near the tree west of the Ranger Outpost)

Open the crafting menu, pick the Hatchery, and place it at your base. Add the Weed Stems one by one, or use the super-build option to finish it faster.

How to Tame and Use Your Red Soldier Ant Buggy
After hatching, the Red Soldier Ant Buggy is your tamed mount. You can:
- Whistle to call it to you
- Tell it to stay or follow you
- Pet it
- Use its storage (30 slots)
- Ride it and use a torch
- Attack, block, and do perfect blocks
- Gather items from the ground in Gather Mode
- Recruit other red ants to follow you (unless they are angry)
You can also use your buggy to carry Red Soldier Ant Eggs and other big items. Press the sprint button to make it run faster. The buggy can also break Dead Roots (Tier 1) in places like the Snackbar Anthill and Hatchery Anthill, which can lead to Mega Milk Molars.
How to Name and Summon Your Buggy in Grounded 2
To name your buggy and summon it, you need to build an Ant Nest. Here’s what you need:
- 6 Weed Stems
- 6 Clover Leafs
- 3 Crude Rope
- 1 Acorn Shell
Build the Ant Nest at your base. Use it to store your buggy and change its name by pressing the ‘Rename’ button. You can also assign your buggy to the summoning wheel, so you can call it while exploring. Tap right on the D-pad to summon your buggy, and it will come to you. Tap B to send it back to the nest.
There are six buggy slots in the Ant Nest, and you can have up to four ant buggies and four spider buggies in the summoning wheel. If your buggy gets knocked out, you can revive it and keep going.
Now you know how to get a Red Ant Egg in Grounded 2, build a Hatchery, and hatch your own Red Soldier Ant Buggy. With your new buggy, you can travel faster, carry more, and explore Brookhollow Park with ease.
