How to Unlock All Dark Arts Spells in Hogwarts Legacy

Unless you’re as innocent as Neville Longbottom, you’ve probably tried to figure out how to unlock all Dark Arts spells in Hogwarts Legacy.  While you can’t play Quidditch in developers Avalanche’s RPG game based on the iconic series, you can go around torturing fellow students and professors by learning the three Unforgivable Curses: Avada Kedavra, Crucio, and Imperio.

Here’s a guide on how to unlock all Dark Arts spells in Hogwarts Legacy.

To unlock the Unforgivable Curses, you’ll need to follow the questline of Sebastian Sallow, a character who’s determined to save his cursed sister by any means necessary—even if it means using Dark Magic. Throughout his storyline, Sebastian offers to teach you these powerful spells, but you have to decide whether or not to accept his offers.

Important Note: If you decline to learn a spell when Sebastian offers, you can still speak to him later in the Undercroft to change your mind. However, near the end of his quest line, you’ll face a decision that could permanently lock you out of learning certain spells, so choose wisely!

How to Unlock Crucio in Hogwarts Legacy

The first Unforgivable Curse you can learn is the Cruciatus Curse, also known as Crucio. This spell causes continuous pain to its target, dealing damage over time. To unlock Crucio reach level 16. Then complete “The High Keep” quest. This main story quest involves rescuing the hippogriff Highwing and is necessary to advance in Sebastian’s questline.

Start the “In the Shadow of the Study” quest. After completing “The High Keep” and reaching level 16, speak with Sebastian to begin this quest. During this quest, you’ll have the option to learn Crucio. If you choose to accept, you’ll gain the ability to curse enemies, making them suffer over time. For an even more devastating effect, consider using the Crucio Mastery talent to spread the curse to other enemies nearby.

The second Unforgivable Curse, Imperio, allows you to control an enemy, forcing them to fight on your side. To unlock Imperio complete “In the Shadow of the Study.”

Start the “In the Shadow of Time” quest. This quest becomes available just two quests after “In the Shadow of the Study.” There’s no level requirement, but you’ll need to progress through Professor Weasley’s assignments until you unlock “In the Shadow of the Mine.”

Once you complete this quest, you’ll gain the ability to cast Imperio. This spell is especially useful in battle, as it turns enemies into allies. The Imperio Mastery and Enduring Curse talents can further enhance its effects.

How to Unlock Avada Kedavra in Hogwarts Legacy

The last and most powerful Dark Arts spell, Avada Kedavra, is known as the Killing Curse. It instantly kills any enemy it hits. To unlock Avada Kedavra reach level 24 and complete “Lodgok’s Loyalty” quest. This quest is a prerequisite to unlocking “In the Shadow of the Relic.”

Start the “In the Shadow of the Relic” quest. This quest is near the end of Sebastian’s storyline. When the time comes, Sebastian will offer to teach you Avada Kedavra. Respond with “Everyone should know that curse” to learn it.

Once you’ve unlocked Avada Kedavra, you’ll have access to one of the most powerful spells in the game.

And that’s how to unlock all Dark Arts spells in Hogwarts Legacy. Remember, these spells are not just powerful tools, but they also come with moral choices that can impact your journey through the game.
