Besides the free Samurai Armor and the Whirling Ovation weapon, you can use Dark Matter abilities in Destiny 2 to explore the new Kepler area in The Edge of Fate. These special powers help you move around, solve puzzles, and even find secret chests. But you don’t get all of them right away. You don’t need to do anything special or grind for hours—just keep following the main campaign, and you’ll get them as you go.
Here’s our guide on how to unlock all Dark Matter Abilities in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate.
All Dark Matter Abilities in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate
Right now, there are three Dark Matter abilities in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. You unlock each one by playing through the main story quests. Here’s how each one works and how to get it:
Matterspark

You get the Matterspark ability right at the start of The Edge of Fate. As soon as you begin the first mission, called “Invitation,” you’ll find some Dark Matter. Interact with it, and you’ll unlock Matterspark. This ability lets you move faster across the map and squeeze through tight spaces in some missions. It’s very useful for getting around Kepler quickly.
Relocator

The next ability is called Relocator. You get this one while working on the Exile’s Accord quest. You don’t even have to finish a mission to get it—just follow the quest steps until you reach the new area, and you’ll pick up the Relocator. This ability works like a rocket launcher and lets you shoot yourself through special portals. As you keep playing the campaign, you’ll be able to upgrade Relocator so you can travel even farther and reach new places.
Mattermorph

The last Dark Matter ability is Mattermorph. You unlock this during the Morphology mission. After you chase down the boss and reach the final room, you’ll see a strange dark matter growth. Interact with it, and you’ll get the Mattermorph ability. This lets you move or change certain objects that have a green glow. The effect only lasts for a short time, so use it quickly when you need it.
