No Rest for the Wicked Guide: Tips & Tricks

Finding useful items and gear is essential to every RPG game, and the most common way to do so is by breaking everything you can get your hands on. You’ll often find different loot in barrels and crates that can be used for various gameplay mechanics, such as cooking, crafting, and gear enhancement.

General Tips and Tricks

  1. Break Everything: Smash barrels and crates to uncover valuable loot for crafting, cooking, and enhancing your gear.
  2. Watch Your Weight: Choose gear wisely to balance speed and power. Lighter gear allows for quicker dodges, while heavier gear offers unique combat abilities.
  3. Inventory Management: Only equipped items affect your weight, so hoard as many supplies as you like without penalty.
  4. Master the Kitchen: Utilize fire pits to cook healing items and other useful concoctions from gathered ingredients.
  5. Preserve Weapon Durability: Save weapon durability by rolling or dodging into breakable objects instead of attacking them directly.

Exploration Tips & Tricks

  1. Sprint Freely: Sprint your way through the world to explore as quickly as possible. Don’t worry, you won’t be draining your stamina.
  2. Use Sidle Prompt: Cling to walls and shimmy across to reach hidden areas and valuable loot.
  3. Balance on Planks: Cross narrow beams and planks to access hard-to-reach locations, but beware of fall damage. These places often gold some valuable loot.
  4. Revisit Old Locations: Explore previously visited areas to discover respawning enemies and refreshed loot as you level up.

Combat Tips & Tricks

  1. Aim for Staggers: Break enemy poise meters to stagger them, leaving them vulnerable to devastating attacks. Don’t just focus on the health bar alone.
  2. Prioritize Sneak Attacks: Initiate combat with backstabs for significant damage before engaging in full battle. Preferably the strongest enemy in the group.
  3. Maximize Backstabs: Land mid-combat backstabs on staggered enemies for extra damage and strategic advantage.
  4. Embrace Combat: Unlike traditional RPGs, losing doesn’t result in experience loss but decreases gear durability.
  5. Mind Zone Difficulty: Pay attention to zone difficulty levels to avoid unexpected challenges. If you find yourself getting mauled, maybe find another area to explore.

Advanced Tips & Tricks

  1. Weight Management Clarified: Only equipped gear contributes to weight, affecting dodge and speed. Don’t blindly put on the best armor and then dodge in slow motion.
  2. Preserve Durability: Minimize weapon wear by avoiding direct attacks on breakable objects. Simply roll to break them.
  3. Optimize Ingredient Usage: Cook gathered ingredients into meals for enhanced healing benefits. Every chance you get, load up!
  4. Heal Cooldown Awareness: Mind the nine-second cooldown on healing items to avoid vulnerability in combat.
  5. Backstab Strategy: Strategically land backstabs during combat by constantly side stepping.
  6. Enemy Respawn Mechanics: Foes respawn as you explore new areas, offering fresh challenges and rewards. Get used to seeing familiar enemies.
  7. Vertical Exploration: Explore high points for hidden treasures but beware of fall damage risks.
