Despite being a decade old, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt might not be done yet. A fresh rumor hints that a new Witcher 3 DLC, a full-blown Witcher 3 expansion, could be in development, and maybe arriving as early as 2026, likely as a treat for fans on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam.
The details are still hazy (because, you know, rumors), but the source is decently reputable. The whispers began after Polish YouTuber Remigiusz Maciaszek dropped info on a podcast, claiming multiple sources confirmed CD Projekt Red is working with Fool’s Theory, the studio behind The Witcher 1 Remake, on a story-driven add-on. He even suggests it comes after console mod support and before The Witcher 4.
Maciaszek didn’t spill much about what the Witcher 3 DLC will include, no plot details or Geralt-side adventures, but speculated it might bridge the gap between Wild Hunt and the next game, with Ciri possibly taking the lead. If true, this would make it a hefty sequel-sized narrative, possibly comparable to Heart of Stone or Blood and Wine.
CDPR hasn’t confirmed any of this, but the timing aligns: they recently announced mod support for consoles, and programmers have hinted at Fool’s Theory collaboration in recent company updates. Additionally, the studio’s roadmap reportedly includes: console mods, The Witcher 3 DLC, The Witcher 4, and The Witcher 1 Remake.
Wild Hunt recently crossed 60 million copies sold, and with its beloved status, a Witcher 3 expansion could be both a sentimental and strategic bonanza for CDPR. But as exciting as the idea is, it remains firmly in rumor territory until official word drops.
If this DLC is real, expect it to aim for a 2026 release, though that’s far from set in stone. CDPR’s cautious phrasing suggests they’re still sorting scope, pricing, and whether it will focus on Geralt or fully hand the reins to Ciri.
We’ll keep you posted if anything gets officially announced. But for now, the idea of a new Witcher 3 DLC sounds like the kind of surprise we’d be happy to toss a coin at.
