With Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV show right around the corner, a new contender has emerged in the same universe. With no official affiliation with Prime Video or Bethesda whatsoever, Deadweight is a fan film that is worth a look if you’re a fan of the series, offering viewers an immersive journey that could perfectly capture the essence of the Fallout universe.
Fallout Deadweight Gives Amazon a Run for its Money
Directed by Nigel J. Kim, Fallout Deadweight plunges viewers into a 12-minute spectacle set within the world of Fallout 4. The film centers around the iconic character Nate, delivering a narrative that provides closure to Fallout 4‘s storyline, particularly its family aspect.
From the opening sequence featuring Nate wielding a laser pistol against a Molerat to the intense action scenes involving Raiders and a VATS encounter, Deadweight exudes authenticity. The film is a testament to the passion of its creators, with well-crafted replica weapons and set pieces that capture the feeling of the Fallout series.
With solid voice acting and an authentic soundtrack, Deadweight puts viewers in a world teeming with Vault Boy iconography and nods to Fallout lore. JP Valenti’s portrayal of Nate deserves special mention for bringing depth to the character.
As fans eagerly await the premiere of the Fallout TV show, Deadweight offers an intriguing taste of what’s to come.
Created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the Fallout is set to to premiere on Prime Video on April 11, 2024, featuring Walton Goggins as the The Ghoul/Cooper Howard and Ella Purnell as young Vault Dweller Lucy.
While the TV series promises its own, hopefully not “woke Hollywood,” take on the Fallout universe. Whether it’s the thrilling action sequences or the heartfelt exploration of Fallout‘s themes, Deadweight is a must-watch for the game’s hardcore fanbase.
