Clair Obscur: Here’s How to Save in Expedition 33

Just like saved files in Dave the Diver or saving in Soulmask, players want to know how to save in Expedition 33. Developers Sandfall Interactive’s turn-based RPG with real-time action, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is quite different from most games in its genre. You need to plan your attacks, but you also have to dodge and parry enemy moves in real time. If you get hit too often, the game can be very tough. Luckily, you can heal and revive your team with potions, and you can restore these potions by resting at special checkpoints.

But how do you save your progress? Here’s a full guide on how to save in Expedition 33.

There is no manual save button in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game uses an autosave system. When the game saves, you will see a message at the bottom left of the screen that says “Save in progress…”. This lets you know when your progress is being saved.

The main way to save in Expedition 33 is by resting at an Expedition Flag’s Rest Point. When you find a Rest Point, you can press the Rest button. This will do three things at once:

  • It will autosave your game.
  • It will heal your team.
  • It will refill your potions.

Be careful, though. Resting at a Rest Point will also make all enemies in the area come back. Only rest if you are ready to fight them again.

If you want to make sure your game is saved, you can trigger an autosave by doing certain things. Here are some actions that will cause the game to autosave in Expedition 33:

  • Change a character’s haircut or outfit.
  • Switch an expeditioner’s weapons.
  • Change a character’s Pictos or Lumina.

Other things that can trigger an autosave include:

  • Winning a battle.
  • Picking up special items.
  • Entering new locations.

These actions will save your progress, but they do not heal your team or refill your potions. Only resting at a Rest Point does that.
