In Minecraft, TNT can be pretty expensive, especially when you need a lot of it for big projects, and it’s not as simple as crafting a balloon. The best alternative is to learn how to make a TNT Duper in Minecraft. A TNT Duper is a clever trick that allows players to duplicate TNT, making it a lot cheaper and more efficient for tasks like mining or large-scale destruction. The best part is that this feature is that you don’t need to play modded Minecraft, because TNT Duper is here to stay in the Java Edition of the game, according to Mojang.
Here’s everything you need to know about a TNT Duper; more specifically how to make a TNT Duper in Minecraft.
What You Need to Build a TNT Duper
Building a TNT Duper in Minecraft doesn’t require too many materials, but you will need a Coral Fan, which can only be obtained using a Silk Touch tool. Here’s what you’ll need to gather:
- 1 Sticky Piston
- At least 6 Slime Blocks
- At least 1 TNT Block
- 1 Fence or Wall
- 1 Coral Fan
- 1 Detector Rail
- 1 Minecart
- A method of activation, like a lever or button
How To Make a TNT Duper in Minecraft
Before you start building, keep in mind that TNT is explosive and can cause serious damage. It’s best to build this machine high up in the sky or far away from anything important, just in case things go wrong.
- Start with the Sticky Piston: Place the Sticky Piston on the ground with a Slime Block attached to it. Then, go one block down and two blocks out from the piston and destroy the Slime Block underneath the one attached to the piston.
- Add More Slime Blocks: On the Slime Block that’s furthest from the piston, attach three more Slime Blocks in an “L” shape on either side. Make sure everything looks exactly right to avoid mistakes.
- Attach the Fence/Wall and TNT: Next, attach a Fence or Wall to the front side of the middle Slime Block. Then, place a TNT block under that same Slime Block. In front of the TNT, add the Coral Fan. This part is crucial; placing things incorrectly can cause the whole contraption to blow up.
- Set Up the Rail and Minecart: Place a Detector Rail on the Slime Block facing the piston, and then put a Minecart on top of the rail. If everything is set up correctly, the TNT should not explode at this point.
- Activate the Machine: Finally, use a lever to activate the machine. When you pull the lever, the piston will extend, and the TNT Duper will start working. The machine should activate every other time you pull the lever, duplicating the TNT as needed.
Expanding and Automating Your TNT Duper
If you want to make your TNT Duper even more powerful, there are ways to expand and automate it:
- Double the Output: You can mirror the entire setup on the other side of the machine, leaving a block of air between the two sides so the Slime Blocks don’t stick together. This will double the amount of TNT produced.
- Automate with a Redstone Clock: For continuous TNT production, you can use a Sticky Piston to push two Observers together, creating a Redstone Clock. This will constantly activate and deactivate the TNT Duper, allowing it to produce a large amount of TNT without any manual input.
This setup is especially useful in the Nether, where you can use the automatic TNT Duper to dig out massive areas and find tons of Ancient Debris. You can even place blast-resistant blocks at the bottom of the area to contain the explosions, making the process even more efficient.
Now that you know how to make a TNT Duper in Minecraft, you can save on resources and take your builds and mining operations to the next level.
