People waiting for Skydance Interactive’s much-hyped Marvel game will apparently have to hold on a little longer. The Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra release date has officially been delayed to 2026, the delay was not entirely unexpected for the cinematic action-adventure title because of the developer’s relative radio-silence in the past few months.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, developed by Skydance New Media, was revealed with a lot of enthusiasm. Featuring an experience set during World War II, the game will center around a young Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, and T’Challa’s grandfather Azzuri, the Black Panther of that era. Players will also take on the roles of Gabriel Jones, a Howling Commando, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded behind enemy lines.
The announcement of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra being delayed until 2026 came through a Tweet from Skydance’s social media account, with reasons pointing out that it is the team’s desire to polish the story, gameplay mechanics, and technical performance, and make sure it lives up to its vision. Reaction from fans has been mixed, some fans were upset over it, while others were more understanding and were kind of expecting it.
There’s also a sense that Skydance wants to get this right. This is their first major game project, and with Amy Hennig, the expectations are understandably high. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra isn’t just another superhero game. It’s one that aims to explore themes of war, power, and legacy through characters fans haven’t yet experienced in an interactive form.
As Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra release date moves further out, questions remain about when we’ll see more footage or updates. So far, only a brief teaser has been shown publicly, and the studio has been under the radar since then. With 2025 now off the table, the hope is that Skydance uses the extra time to reveal more about gameplay and story before the end of this year. Luckily, the studio did mention that more information is coming sometime soon.
Whether the delay pays off remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra getting delayed means more time for the developers to meet the high bar they’ve set.
