After you’ve decided whether to play as Yasuke or Naoe, you can take on the Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Most secondary targets are optional in Ubisoft’s latest stealth game, but the Twisted Tree is an exception. Using all the knowledge and mastery skills you’ve gained, you must eliminate all members of this group to progress the main story. While all the members are located in Kyoto, making them relatively easy to find, taking them down can be a challenge depending on your approach—stealth or combat.
This guide will show you the exact locations of each member of the Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and how to deal with them effectively.
Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Walkthrough

The Twisted Tree consists of several members scattered across Kyoto. If you’ve been exploring the city, you might have already killed a few of them by accident without following the questline. That’s fine—it still counts toward your goal. Below, we’ll break down the locations and strategies for each member of the Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Takahashi Goro

The first member of the Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is Takahashi Goro, who can be found west of the Shokokuji Pagoda near the viewpoint. Goro is one of the two members you can spare. He is located in a burned building, and all you need to do is approach him, listen to his dialogue, and let him go. Sparing Goro will reward you with an Uncommon Teppo and the Damage After Headshot engraving.
Takahashi Saburo

Takahashi Saburo is located south of the Asukai Clan Domain. He patrols the area with a large bodyguard, making him a bit more challenging to approach. If you’ve unlocked the double assassination skill, you can take them both out at once. If you’re playing as Yasuke, the fight should be manageable even without stealth. Killing Saburo will reward you with an Uncommon Katana and the Tools on Kill engraving.
Takahashi Taro

Takahashi Taro is inside the Asukai Clan Domain. Unlike Saburo, Taro is alone, making him an easier target. You can choose either Yasuke or Naoe to eliminate him, as the fight is straightforward. Defeating Taro will reward you with an Uncommon Long Katana and the Critical Damage With Melee Weapon engraving.
Takahashi Ichi-hime

Takahashi Ichi-hime is the second member of the Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows you can spare. She is located inside the Umenomiya Taisha Shrine. Like Goro, you only need to approach her, listen to her dialogue, and let her go. Sparing Ichi-hime will reward you with an Uncommon Bow and the Adrenaline on Affected Enemies engraving.
Takahashi Shiro

Takahashi Shiro is found inside Nijo Palace. If you’ve been exploring Kyoto, you might have already killed him without realizing he was a target. If you’re aiming for the Legendary item, make sure to locate him here. Once you find him, eliminate him to receive an Uncommon Katana and the Armor-Piercing on Consecutive Skills engraving.
Takahashi Jiro

Takahashi Jiro is located south of the Honnoji Temple. He patrols the area with a group of guards, making him a bit tricky to approach. If you’re playing as Naoe, you can use a smoke bomb to kill him and escape unnoticed. Alternatively, you can lure him to a secluded spot and take him out there. Killing Jiro will reward you with an Uncommon Teppo and the Armor Damage on Multiple Enemies engraving.
Takahashi Inoshichi

The final member of the Twisted Tree is Takahashi Inoshichi, the leader of the group. He is located inside an estate south of the Umenomiya Taisha Shrine. Inoshichi is the toughest target, and it’s recommended to use Naoe for this mission. She can sneak into the estate, crawl under the house, and assassinate him without being detected. Killing Inoshichi will reward you with the Kitsune’s Trickery Legendary Amulet for Yasuke and the Health for Samurai Mastery Legendary engraving.
Once you’ve eliminated all members of the Twisted Tree in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, return to complete the Inside Help quest. Doing so will unlock the Counter Attack ability for Naoe and the Riposte ability for Yasuke, which were previously locked in the Mastery menu.
