A recent leak confirms that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the upcoming remake of the fan-favorite pirate game, will feature additional content not present in the base game. While earlier leaks suggested only the removal of modern-day sections and some gameplay changes, the story will apparently also receive significant updates.
Recently, a major security breach in the Indonesian Game Ratings System (IGRS) leaked information about several games. This included Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and over an hour of spoiler footage from the upcoming 007 First Light by IO Interactive. The leak reveals that Black Flag Resynced will introduce new characters and previously unseen story missions.

What New Content Will Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Include?
The IGRS states in the game’s description that a new spin has been added to the original fan-favorite game, while staying true to its roots. “This title breathes new life into a fan favorite while remaining faithful to the original’s spirit. It follows the story of charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through the 18th-century Caribbean, engaging in parkour in cities and battles at sea in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories”.
The original Black Flag featured a diverse cast, including Edward Kenway and his quartermaster, Adewale, who was later playable in additional DLC. There were also historical pirates such as Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Mary Read, and Anne Bonny, not to mention a whole lot of sea shanties. The new content may be based on ideas removed during the original development, or just additional stuff to bring the game up to the level of its present-day contemporaries.
Cut content from the original Black Flag included a more detailed fight with El Tiburon and an enhanced stealth system that would have enabled players to interact more naturally with NPCs, including through conversations and activities such as drinking rum.
Further details are expected soon, as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is anticipated to be officially announced in the near future. The game is planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
