Xbox Game Pass lost five games on the last day of August 2026, including the much-loved The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3 leaves Xbox Game Pass after a surprisingly short 193-day run, alongside four lesser-known titles that had been available on the service for between one and six years. The Complete Edition of The Witcher 3 returned to Xbox Game Pass in mid-February 2026 before being removed on August 31, bringing its relatively brief stint on the service to an end.
The Witcher 3 Leaves Xbox Game Pass As New DLC Nears Release
About six months ago, only the base game of The Witcher 3 joined Game Pass, but now it leaves with both major expansions already included: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Of course, the timing of its departure is no coincidence, with the recent Gamescom 2026 announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, scheduled for release on 29th of September. The Witcher fans are hyped nevertheless because getting a DLC for a game that was released ten years ago is pretty cool in itself; acquiring said DLC for free if you’re a pre-existing owner of the game is even cooler.
Anywho, circling back to the smaller games that left Xbox Game Pass on 31st August. They are: Another Crab’s Treasure, I Am Your Beast, Neon Abyss, and One Lonely Outpost.
Neon Abyss stayed on Microsoft’s service the longest from this batch, since July of 2020, while Another Crab’s Treasure joined as a day-one Xbox Game Pass release in April 2024 before being bumped up to the Standard tier in February 2025. One Lonely Outpost was added in March 2025, whereas I Am Your Beast was the last to join, in September 2025, almost a year before its removal.
Similar to July, August also had more games removed than added to the Xbox Game Pass. It added only 7 new games to the lowest tier of the subscription service and 13 games to Xbox Game Pass Premium.
