Wondering how to do homework in Sims 4, you’ve come to the right place. Like our other guides on popular games like Minecraft and Fallout, we’ll show you how to get your Sim to finish up his homework. In the new Sims 4 expansion pack, titled High School Years, your teen Sims can go to school just like some adult Sims go to work. You can follow them to school and control their activities during the day, which affects their relationships and academic progress.
Doing homework is listed in the career tab and needs to be done after every school day. If you’re new to playing with teenage Sims, here’s how to help them complete their homework.
How to do Homework in Sims 4
- Locate the Homework Book:
- Each teen Sim has a homework book in their inventory. To find it, click on your Sim’s portrait in the lower right corner of the screen to open their inventory. Look for a small blue book labeled “Homework.”
- Start the Homework:
- Once you’ve located the homework book, click on it. An option to “Do Homework” will appear. Select this option.
- Your teen Sim will then move to the nearest available surface, like a table or desk, to start working on their homework.
- Completing the Homework:
- It takes some in-game time for your Sim to finish their homework. You can speed up the process by using the “Speed Up” button in the top right corner of the screen.
- If your Sim stops doing their homework for any reason, simply click on the homework book again and select “Do Homework” to resume.
- Get Help with Homework:
- If you want to complete homework faster, other Sims in the household can help. To do this, select another Sim, click on the teen doing homework, and choose the “Help with Homework” option. This will speed up the homework completion time.
Impact on School Performance:
- While skipping homework occasionally won’t dramatically affect your teen Sim’s school performance, regularly completing homework can help improve their grades more quickly. Attending classes regularly is also important for maintaining good grades, but homework provides an extra boost to academic performance.
Balancing Homework with Other Activities:
- Teen Sims have busy lives, balancing school, social activities, and part-time jobs. To ensure they have enough time to complete their homework, consider managing their schedule effectively. For example, have them do their homework right after school to free up the evening for other activities.
Additional Tips:
- Use the Study Spot Lot Trait:
- If you want to make homework time even more efficient, consider using the “Study Spot” lot trait. This trait can be added to your home lot through Build Mode. It helps Sims complete homework and other learning activities faster.
- Focus on Needs:
- Ensure your Sim’s needs are met before they start their homework. A Sim with high needs will complete homework more efficiently. Make sure they’re not hungry, tired, or needing fun.
- Reward Traits and Aspirations:
- Some reward traits and aspirations can make homework easier. For example, the “Mentor” trait allows adult Sims to help teens with homework more effectively, and certain aspirations can give teens boosts in their academic performance.
Not doing homework doesn’t severely impact your teen Sim’s school performance. As long as they attend classes regularly, they will still progress in their academic career. However, doing homework can help them improve their grades more quickly.
