How to Get Chefosaurus Deviant in Once Human

Players can bring along unique deviant companions on their journey in Starry Studios’ post-apocalyptic survival game, and one of the most interesting ones is the Chefosaurus Rex in Once Human. This isn’t your typical fearsome dinosaur—it’s a large, stuffed, fire-breathing plushie that helps around your house. While it doesn’t fight, the Chefosaurus Rex adds charm to your base by cooking food and playfully running around when idle.

If you’re aiming to collect all the friendly Deviants in the game, getting a Chefosaurus Rex should be on your list. Here’s a simple guide on how to bring this delightful creature into your home.

The simplest way to get a Chefosaurus Rex in Once Human is by completing a side quest called “There’s A Dragon Here.” This quest is given by Lowe and becomes available once you reach level 15 and make your way to Meyer’s Market. If you don’t see this quest available, you might need to finish another quest from Lowe called “Digby Boy” in Deadsville first.

Steps to Complete ‘There’s A Dragon Here’ Quest

Start the quest by talking to Lowe, who will send you to the old town of Sunbury. Lowe claims there’s a dragon there, which turns out to be the Chefosaurus Rex. Follow the quest marker to Sunbury, where you’ll enter a neighborhood controlled by the Vultures, a group of human enemies armed with guns, melee weapons, and explosives. Be prepared for a fight, so bring plenty of ammo and strong weapons. Once you’ve cleared the area, head to the diner’s kitchen where the Chefosaurus Rex is located.

The Chefosaurus will ask you to prepare a few dishes. The dishes you need to cook are:

  • Dried Orange
  • Roasted Meat
  • Steak Combo

You can find the ingredients in containers around the Chefosaurus. Cook one of each dish and give it to the Deviant until it’s satisfied. After the Chefosaurus approves of your cooking, it will turn into a Deviant bubble. You can then capture it and bring it back to your base.

Alternative Method: Securement Silo Phi

If you prefer a different approach, you can also get a Chefosaurus Rex by clearing Securement Silo Phi. This is a dungeon located northwest of Greywater Camp in the Iron River region.

Steps to Clear Securement Silo Phi:

Begin the Securement Silo Phi as you normally would. This dungeon is easy enough to do solo, but it’s wise to bring your best weapons for safety. As you progress through the dungeon, you’ll reach a room with large double doors that require a keycard. Instead of opening the doors, look for an elevator in the same room and take it down.

The elevator will take you to a tunnel with a dimensional rift at the end. Pass through the rift, which will transport you to a hospital. In the hospital, enter the room at the end of the hallway. You’ll be teleported again, this time to a void where you must defeat all enemies. Once all enemies are defeated, a portal will open, leading you to a child’s room. Here, there’s a chance that a Chefosaurus Rex or its offensive variant, the Pyro Dino, will appear. If a Chefosaurus appears, interact with it to try and capture it.

With these methods, you can add the Chefosaurus Rex to your collection of Deviants in Once Human. Whether you prefer completing a quest or exploring a dungeon, this friendly dinosaur plushie is sure to bring some warmth and fun to your in-game home.
