Besides solving strongbox puzzles or defeating Excavatron, players want the Crimson Desert Kuku bird. Ever wanted to ride something that feels like a Final Fantasy Chocobo? Then the Kuku bird is basically a red-feathered Chocobo-style mount you can actually earn and keep. It’s not as aggressive as Silver Fang, and it won’t outrun the top-tier horses. Still, it has real personality. The egg “hat” is goofy in the best way, it’s a big, standout mount, and it can glide to help avoid fall damage.
If you’re collecting Crimson Desert new mounts, the Crimson Desert Kuku bird is an easy one to justify. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the exact steps to find the egg and hatch your own leaping Kuku bird.
How to Get the Crimson Desert Kuku Bird Egg

To get the Crimson Desert Kuku bird, you first need to grab its egg from Bloodsteel Camp in the Steel Mountains, southeast of Hernand.
Start by liberating Bloodsteel Camp and pushing into the center. Look for a large wooden tower with a red arrow marker at the top.
Climb to the top of the tower. Once you’re there, hold L2 to cling to the wall, then use Force Palm (R3) to rotate the wall and reveal a hidden room. Inside, you’ll find the Kuku bird egg.
After you grab it, don’t immediately bolt. You’ve stolen the egg, so it counts as a crime. Stay inside that secret room for a moment after collecting it to avoid getting instantly punished on the way out.
Also, check the desk in the same room. It contains the leaping Kuku bird research journal. Steal it and read it for extra details on the mount.
How to Hatch the Kuku Bird Egg in Crimson Desert

Once you’ve got the egg, the next step is hatching it.
Head to the Kingshield Mountains of Demeniss. You’re looking for a nest near a tree. Take the Kuku bird egg to the marked spot (north of the “D” in “Demeniss”).
Open your inventory and select “Use” on the Kuku bird egg. Then hold L1 + Triangle to place the egg into the nest. If you did it correctly, the egg will start glowing orange.
Now comes the only annoying part. You must stay near the egg for five minutes in real time. When it’s fully glowing orange, interact with it to hatch the Kuku bird. Finally, interact with the newly hatched bird to register it as your permanent mount.
That’s it. You now have the Crimson Desert Kuku Bird, one of the more memorable Crimson Desert new mounts thanks to its gliding utility. For more Crimson Desert content, stay posted to RetroNoob.
