With just over a month to go before 007 First Light‘s release, IO Interactive is ramping up the game’s hype. As part of the final phase of its marketing campaign, the studio has dropped a new “Rules of Spycraft” trailer, giving us our best look yet at what’s in store. Only last week, IO Interactive dropped the game’s title sequence, complete with a classic Bond intro and a Lana Del Rey theme song. Now, the latest trailer is here, and it’s all about the gameplay.
007 First Light Release Trailer Reveals Stealth, Infiltration, And Gadget-Based Gameplay
The gameplay closely resembles IO Interactive’s hit series, (pun intended?), Hitman. The visuals, UI design, and animations suggest this new James Bond might be the new Agent 47, just with more hair and a wider vocabulary. The trailer highlights gameplay features players will explore as a spy in 007 First Light. The first aspect is blending in, where players explore areas to infiltrate, past security guards, and eavesdrop for intel. It also showcases stealth features such as sneaking, takedowns, and infiltration parkour paths.
Of course, even the best spy needs more than just quick feet and a silver tongue. That’s where the gadgets come in. The trailer gives us a peek inside the gadget lab, showing off the Q-Lens, Q-Watch, Dart Phone, Smoke Pod, and more. To add on to it, you can also toss objects at enemies, vault over obstacles, or use the environment to your advantage. As for situations where things are out of your control, you can always resort to your trusty guns.
The trailer also teases a lineup of enemies, some of whom pack extra armor that might put your gadgets to the test. Bond’s Focus ability makes an appearance too, letting you slow time for those perfect, cinematic shots. And for anyone looking to sharpen their skills, there’s a new Tactical Simulation mode where you can challenge others and rack up experience for upgrades. IO Interactive promises fresh content for the Tactical Simulation down the line, so there’s plenty to look forward to.
007 First Light is set to release on May 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
