Mina the Hollower, a 2D action-adventure platformer where you play as Mina on a quest to save a cursed island, is set to launch this month. Yacht Club Games recently revealed the release date on social media, just weeks after hinting that an announcement was on the way.
The studio has now confirmed Mina the Hollower will launch on Friday, May 29, 2026, priced at $19.99. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, both Nintendo Switch models, and Steam. Yacht Club Games also announced that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are no longer in development, even though this game isn’t exactly pushing graphical boundaries.
From the creators of Shovel Knight, Mina the Hollower draws inspiration from classic Game Boy Color titles, blending retro visuals with modern touches like widescreen support, smoother animations, refined controls, and an MSX-inspired soundtrack. A standout element of the game is Mina’s ability to burrow underground, letting players slip past hazards, dodge attacks, and move quickly during both combat and exploration.
Mina’s main weapon is her whip, Nightstar, but players can unlock a variety of weapons and sidearms that change up the combat experience through the course of the game. Each weapon comes with its own unique move set, encouraging players to experiment and find their preferred style in battle. Trinkets and Sidearms add more depth, offering extra effects and abilities for greater customization. Boss battles are a major focus of the game, and the latest trailer highlights massive enemies and intense combat inspired by dark Victorian horror.

Mina The Hollower Could Be The Standout Indie Release Of 2026
The game was initially scheduled for Halloween 2025, but on October 6, 2025, the team announced a delay to ensure the final product meets their high standards.
After over six years in development, Yacht Club Games describes Mina the Hollower as their most ambitious and expansive project so far, entailing 25 bosses and mini-bosses. With its detailed pixel art, fast-paced combat, gothic setting, and classic adventure game elements.
