Remedy Entertainment has revealed new details about Control Resonant, the highly anticipated sequel to its acclaimed 2019 action-adventure title, Control. The latest update focuses on the addition of a New Game Plus mode. While Control Resonant does not yet have an exact release date, Remedy has confirmed that the game will launch in the second half of 2026.
A recent PlayStation blog post provides a comprehensive overview of Control Resonant’s New Game Plus features. In the initial playthrough of Control Resonant, players will explore the game’s world and shape Dylan’s journey according to their choices. For those who wish to revisit the experience, without starting from scratch, the confirmation is good news.
Remedy has explained that players will be able to carry over items to the New Game Plus mode, such as Aberrant upgrades, health, and combat ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents, and artifacts into their new run. However, they will not be able to bring over traversal abilities, as those are tied to the game’s story.
The New Game Plus mode is designed to give players greater freedom to experiment with different builds, something not fully possible during the first playthrough. As players progress, they will unlock new talent nodes, expanding the ways abilities and Aberrant attacks can be combined. Multiple combat abilities can now be earned from the same boss, opening up new combinations.
Artifacts, which are equippable items offering passive modifiers to survivability, combat, exploration, or resource management, play a key role in shaping player builds. While the initial playthrough limits players to three Artifact slots, a fourth slot becomes available in New Game Plus.

Control Resonant’s New Game Plus Mode Promises a Tougher Challenge
Returning to Manhattan in this new mode means facing a more challenging version of the city. Enemies will be tougher, encounters will evolve, and even familiar battles will take on new dimensions. Some bosses will introduce unexpected behaviors, shaking things up a bit when compared to the initial playthrough. This mode is designed to escalate the challenge, reshaping encounters and raising the stakes as players progress.
Control Resonant is designed to reward returning players and encourage exploration of New Game Plus mode, since not everything can be discovered in a single playthrough. Players will have the opportunity to replay World Quests and bounties, and uncover missed collectibles.
