Capcom has just shared an update on the two upcoming DLCs for Resident Evil Requiem. The good news is that one of them will arrive sooner than fans expected. In a recent interview with Denfaminico Gamer, Resident Evil 9 Director Koshi Nakanishi and Producer Masato Kumazawa confirmed that the Resident Evil Requiem DLC has been split into two, one of which is a mini-game, while the other will add new content and further expand the main story.
Fortunately, both hinted at a potential release date for the mini-game DLC. Kumazawa stated that players should complete the main story during Golden Week in Japan to get ready for the DLC. “This mini-game is content that is unlocked after clearing the main story. So, if you’re planning to play it, clearing the main story during Golden Week would be just right for you to be able to play it”.
This suggests the mini-game mode could launch in May, right after Japan’s Golden Week, which runs from May 2 to May 6. While there’s no official release date yet, Capcom has confirmed that the mini-game will be added to RE9 in May 2026. So, players may need to wait a bit longer after Golden Week for its arrival.
Moreover, Director Nakanishi teased about the mini-game mode, saying it involves Leon Kennedy’s hatchet. “It’s based on the battles in the main game. However, for those who have cleared the main story and are thinking, ‘I still haven’t had enough fun!’, I think you’ll be able to enjoy this and go ‘Whoa!!’, so sharpen your tomahawk and wait”.

Resident Evil Requiem DLC: Mini-Game Mode Confirmed, Major Story Expansion May Arrive Much Later
To clarify, this mini-game mode is not a story expansion and will only unlock after you finish the main story campaign, which, if you’re reading this, you’ve probably already done. While details are still under wraps, some fans are speculating that it could be a new take on the classic RE9 Mercenary mode.
As for the story expansion DLC, there’s still no confirmed release date or story focus. It could arrive as late as the end of 2026 or even early 2027. This isn’t surprising, given Capcom’s busy schedule and ongoing rumors about a possible Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake. Stay tuned to RetroNoob for more details about the post-launch story DLC.
