Sega has officially canceled its live service Super Game project, first unveiled back in 2021 with a hefty budget of $882 million. While it initially seemed like Super Game referred to a single title, it soon became clear that Sega was using the name for a collection of big-budget GaaS (Games as a Service) projects.
Five years have passed since Sega first teased Super Game, yet we never got a clear picture of what these projects actually were. No official titles or details ever surfaced. Now, Sega’s latest financial earnings report confirmed what many already suspected, that the Super Game project is no more, possibly for the better. The report simply states, ‘Decided to cancel Super Game,’ and notes that no extra costs were incurred for the third quarter of the 2026 fiscal year.

Sega Canceled Super Game But Still Has Major Games Planned
Elsewhere in the same report, Sega offers a glimpse at what’s next. The ‘Upcoming Plans’ slide lays out a lineup of games the company aims to release in the years ahead:
- Stranger Than Heaven: Winter of 2026
- Persona 4 Revival: Release Date TBD
- Total War: Warhammer 40,000: Release Date TBD
- Total War: Medieval III: Release Date TBD
- New Virtua Fighter Project: Title/Release Date TBD
- Crazy Taxi: Title/Release Date TBD
- Golden Axe: Title/Release Date TBD
- Jet Set Radio: Title/Release Date TBD
- Streets of Rage: Title/Release Date TBD
- Alien: Isolation Sequel: Title/Release Date TBD
While Sega does not name any specific titles, its forecast for the third quarter of the 2027 fiscal year mentions plans to ‘launch four new titles based on mainstay IPs.’ This likely means that four of the games listed above could arrive within the next year. For Sega, this is quite a promising move. The company’s classic franchises are still much loved with a loyal following, and returning to its roots with remakes is more likely to garner a positive response compared to another live service title.
