Rockstar has officially announced the Grand Theft Auto 6 preorder date, along with a first look at its cover art. Pre-sales for this highly anticipated release start on June 25 and will be available on digital platforms such as the PlayStation Store and at select retailers.
To further hype up the pre-order announcement, Rockstar dropped a thirty-second video unveiling the official cover art. Set to a booming synth soundtrack, the video spotlights the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, as well as other key characters who will appear in the sequel. The cover art reflects the game’s setting, the fictional state of Leonida, with flamingos, alligators, and plenty of fast cars, helicopters, and motorbikes, all wrapped up in the series’ iconic pop-art style. What The Grand Theft Auto 6 Preorder Date Means For Pricing Expectations
With pre-orders opening next week, June 25 is also when we’ll finally learn how much GTA 6 will cost, a topic that has sparked plenty of speculation over the past year. Will Rockstar stick to the $70 price tag, or could it climb to $80 or even $100 to compensate for the game’s massive development costs? Either way, GTA 6 is expected to follow in GTA 5’s footsteps and become a major hit for years to come.
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, speaking at the video game executive conference iicon this April, suggested that his company would keep the game’s cost in check to ensure players felt the price was “fair.”
“Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery,” Zelnick said. “How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got.
Grand Theft Auto fans are still waiting for a fresh gameplay trailer for the sixth installment, with the last two trailers revealed in 2023 and 2025. Together, both trailers have already racked up a combined 446 million views.
GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and we’ll be keeping up with everything leading up its release.
